We had much more talent than Columbia, but Carm Cozza and his staff lived in fear of Marty getting a hot hand and beating Dowling, Hill, et al. Guys on the offensive side of the ball had gotten our game plan down pat, but we needed to stay out on the practice field while the defense went through the permutations and combinations of the Lions’ offense under Domres.

He was the second quarterback taken in the 1969 NFL draft, the ninth overall pick in the first round. Later in the first round, Yale's Calvin Hill was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys, where he starred. Two Ivy League Football players taken in the FIRST ROUND of the NFL draft. Those were the days......And what fun it was to watch.
