If we do not develop a much more effective pass rush, whatever other positives we may have will not result in a winning season.

That's a bad loss for Princeton.

I didn’t agree with the call as they lined up for it, even believing Surace had reasons based on the scout and the play to that point. I don’t think that is why we lost. The offense stalled in the second half and our pass rush was weak, their QB usually had all the time he needed throughout the game and when coverage forced him to run, we didn’t get to him then either. To me, that is the recipe for a loss, even with a lead. That is my biggest concern based on this opener.

Good teams from lower conferences can and will defeat weak teams from higher conferences, even with three-time-zone jet lag…

San Diego is number 226 in Sagarin.

I hear you GG, but those ratings mean precious little (to me) at this point in the season. Would move me more a month or so from now. They and or P may be better than the algorithm says.

Brutal is the word. Lack of a pass rush, especially in the 2nd half. Too many times the QB was able to get out of trouble. Colon looked good in the 1st half and looked like a deer in the headlights in the 2nd half. Also way to many saks, even when SD only rushed 3-4. Hipa has not improved one bit IMHO, which is obvious from the coaches relying on Colon a lot more. To be fair, the Tigers were gassed in the 2nd half. Hi think Colon can be effective as the season goes on. He showed much better than Hipa, even though he hardly played at all last year. Tigers have a way to go to even get a smell in the IL. Maybe next week, we get a better feel for the rest of the season.

For the time he played, I thought Hipa did play better than last year, although that is not a very high bar. He started out poorly in the opening drive with a terrible first pass and then a sack. But he rebounded pretty well from there. Just my opinion.

Miscellaneously, it was great to see DL London Robinson out there. That is quite a recovery, I was just hoping to see him sometime this season. On the other hand, I did not see Marcelino out there. And the frosh Robinson had a reception and was a returner, nice to see him this early.

I don’t know. Did he get banged up, or a cramp? Or not.

It seems unlikely that the Tigers' remaining OOC games (Lafayette, Mercer) will be easier than San Diego.

Really wish Princeton, Columbia and Cornell had better showings in the opener for the sake of league reputation. Dartmouth and Yale handled business against strong opponents.
