The result surprised me. Brown had not beaten URI since 2017. At the end, I didn't feel that Brown was the better team, but they played better. And that is what counts. In retrospect, I don't think URI is as good as they were advertised, and I think Brown is better than I gave them credit for. I have been down on Perry for some time, but I have to give him a lot of credit for how well Brown played last night. I have always maintained that the key to winning football is pressuring the opposing QB. You pressure the opposing QB and all good things will happen for you. Against Harvard, Brown never came close to the QB, but last night they did. Was this because Brown improved in a week or was URI not as stout as H at the Oline? Perhaps a little of both. But the bottom line is that last night, Brown made stops. Against H they seemed helpless. The Brown offense also played much better. The Brown QB was pressured at times, but he didn't cough it up. But overall, the Brown Oline came to play, and Murphy did his part. Brown has excellent receivers, running backs, and a very capable QB. I really like the back, Bennett. But I think the jury is still out on the Oline. I need to see more to give them a thumbs up. As for the defense, they, too, played well last night, but there were also a lot of times that URI had all day to throw and passes were completed. And this is what happens when you give the opposing QB time. I believe the URI QB threw for over 300 yards. That is still too many. But as for me, the game gave me hope that things are improving.
