Brings to mind Yale-Dartmouth 1975. Dartmouth scored a TD with under a minute left to take a 14-13 lead. Unfortunately for them, the player who scored decided to run by the Yale bench waving the ball. Unsportsmanlike Conduct was called. Dartmouth had to kick off from the 25. Yale ran the kickoff near mid field and ended up winning on a 47 yard FG.

The Yale student body was so I excited after Carter’s FG that the Yale band marched down the middle of the street to campus, with the drum major Alec Murphy getting arrested. That was also the game where Reggie Williams of Dartmouth went offside, leaping over the offensive line, and then got back on sides before the snap. What an athlete!

We were down 16-14 and threw a TD pass with about a minute to go. Our TE who caught the ball was so excited that he spiked it in celebration.

The entire Columbia bench wanted a flag, and they got it. Cameras showed Teevens being furious at our TE and giving him hell on the bench.

So we kicked off from our own 20. Columbia got the ball on their own 40 (give or take).

Fortunately, the defense did their job and we escaped with a 21-16 victory. But oh boy, if we had lost...

The Dartmouth player who drew the flag in 1975 at Yale was Harry Wilson (Russell's father).
