Subject: Another impressive player that comes to mind was Kate Kreager, who played all 15 minutes of OT saddled with 4 fouls. Toledo is one of the best (if not the best) team in the MAC, and their radio crew was complimentary of Xavier's performance today.
In reply to: HomerCecil 's message, "Amy Waugh is SO CLUTCH! I How many times has she hit big shots for us, and she's not even played two full seasons. I also think that Alexis Henderson doesn't realize how good she is. She nearly jumped out of her skin when she got that layup and drew a foul late in the second half (or maybe it was in one of those OTs - I dunno I lost track of all the minutes!). UT is a solid team and Xavier continues to progress. We're not going to be like last year's team, but I still think there's a very good shot at the NCAA's - especially through the A10. GW and Temple still have to be the favorites, but gosh GW has looked bad. I'd say we'll get 11 or 12 conference wins." on 22:49:39 12/09/01 Sun

  • As for the rest of the A-10, GW and St. Joe's will provide the biggest threats. The Hawks were unusually down last year, and they'll be back. GW, on the other hand, is simply struggling with a tough schedule - it's not unusual to see them start slow leading into A-10 play. Ironically, Xavier is really learning the price of upgrading their own schedule this season. (NT) -- X-band '01, 02:19:48 12/10/01 Mon
  • I understand GW's losing, but they have been playing pretty poor and were noncompetitive against not only Tennessee (which would be understandable), but against a mediocre Georgetown team - losing by 21 points at home. Losing to Rice by 13 isn't awful as the Owls are usually decent, but they're not top 25 material. It seems to me that GW simply is still inconsistent - just like last year - so far. Remember how well they played against us in DC and then just fell apart not only against us in the A10 but also against Stanford in the NCAA first round, losing by 25? In my opinion they need a better point guard. I know they have been playing tough competition but are too good to be getting blown out like they have been...Unfortunately, they'll come around for us!
