I tried sheet to tiller many years ago in a sunfish with some limited success - it's a twitchy little thing to work with, fairly unstable.
I've seen some pretty complicated suggestions involving several bungie cords and some small blocks and cleats.
Can you offer an opinion about the method you used? Some details about the size and type of boat? This is good stuff for small boats (even me with almost exclusively fair weather day sailing) and single handed sailing. (Ducking below for more beer and letting go the tiller to pee present chalenges)
