I actually went out yesterday with my friend ghan who you met. Also a "city girl" friend who was almost instantly sea sick. Turned into a bit of a fiasco. It was really humbling and reminded me how much of a novice I am. The winds were 15-20 knts following the hudson which was ebbing much stronger than I've experienced (maybe 3 knts). We just more or less sailed still, close hauled. I wouldve been screwed without my motor getting bck. Just planning a short evening sail but couldve really had problems if the motor failed. Really sloppy planning/sailing. Had a much better sail today though on a friebds anti oar club boat. Its a hunter with diesal, gen set, all sorts of electronics. Its a lot of fun to sail on though. Incidentally, I asked this power boater about gas mileage. Its a cigarette boat and burns a gallon every 2 minutes! Sorry this all is a little off topic, just rambling.
