I sewed a full suite of sails for my Yankee 30 two winters ago using kits from Sailrite. Those guys kick ass, and the sails turned out really well. I bought my own machine, which is a Rex (nicknamed the T-Rex), which is a copy of the machine they sell at Sailrite.

I would second the advice of building some sail bags, cushions, or whatever as a practice project to get all the kinks worked out of the machine. Sail bag performance doesn't really matter, but sails sure do!

Finding a nice big room with hardwood floors is my biggest challenge...
