Ok, I was finally able to view the CPL clip. What he is doing is pretty but doesn't even remotely resemble what we were taught! This concerns me as I was not aware that I was so out of touch!
It goes back to what I originally said. How can a given form change so radically on a fundamental basis over 10 or 15 years?
Where did you take your CPL training? My wife and I both trained from '89 to '94 at the Rochester T'ai Chi Ch'uan Center. I recently requested and received an updated demo tape from them and the CPL form is being peformed EXACTLY the way it was when we were there!
I am NOT by any means trying to be an authority here as many of my peers have far more experience than I however I WOULD like to know what we were taught if not genuine CPL!
It is also worthy of mentioning that we are in possession of the original videotapes of Master Kai Sung, including several recorded in his youth. It is understood that Master Kai is/was a direct exponent of Master Chen Pan Ling. These tapes show a precise continuity of the basic style over an estimated period of 25 to 30 years.
My direct question then is: Was Master Kai wrong?
