Pat, I can completely sympathize...

My mother-in-law, who has been to my house many times, naturally, does this every time. It drives me completely bonkers. I hate it.

However, I do see the side that everyone else has mentioned, that she's just trying to be nice, has been brought up to be helpful/pitch in, that she feels bad just sitting there, etc. So I do my best to be cheerful about it and let her help me.

It still drives me crazy however. I LIKE to wait on her. I LIKE to make her feel like she's the special guest and she can just relax for a change instead of having to do the chores. Funny, eh?

- Jen
