Oh I am thrilled people are following the link to this board!! I want so much to meet everyone in real time (I know, I keep saying that but it's true) and I think this will help. It is hard to pass on messages to one another at meetup.com due to a lack of space. It holds ... six messages before they scroll off? ;o) I think that is what I counted.

I wasn't sure if anyone would be willing to come here since I am new and have never been to a meetup, (due to work schedules, NOT because of a lack of desire to attend) instead I was concerned that people would think I was trying to take over and run the show and that is not the case. I just want a place where we can meet and exchange information, how-to's, what happens during a meetup, how previous meetups have gone, etc.

I'm pretty lucky, I don't believe I have a single born again in my entire family. Of course my family is very small and I don't know most of them outside my immediate family but my immediate family consists of a Catholic father, a New Age Twinkie sister, and a non practicing Catholic sister. My b/f is Hindu and he doesn't care about religion a whole lot one way or another.

I am looking forward to a meetup where we can all meet. I want so much to have some like minded real time friends. I am really limited in how much I can voice my thoughts and opinions in real time when it comes to religion... or lack of religion. My employer is very concerned about image and I have a gut feeling that atheism is not part of the image they want to portray. So, I just don't discuss my atheism with anyone except for on line.

Thank you *so* much for posting! I was hoping people would come over here and maybe we could get to know one another a little bit instead of having to wait for a meetup. Patience has never been a quality of mine. Waiting annoys me. That is why this board was something I wanted to try. This way I didn't have to wait until a meetup that my work schedule permits me to attend before getting to know folks. At my age it is time to venture out and meet my fellow atheist peers. I celebrated my 39th birthday for the 3rd time last April. ;o)

Welcome, Leonard! I hope to meet you at the next meetup! BTW, what do you do for the state of AZ if you don't mind my asking?
