Subject: Life Giving Storm

Life Giving Storm

Skies blacken, clouds rolling in,
tripping over themselves
as they race to reach the shore

The cliff rises with tall majesty
depicting strength, endurance
and steadfastness
in its very appearance

Barely seen but standing firm,
arms reaching, legs spread,
face raised
into the storm she stands

Wild, maddened winds whip
the flowing, white robe
around her form
showing its disapproval
at her presence
during this display of power

Lightning flashes violently
from cloud to cloud
showing this soul
the great passion
held by the Gods of this earth

Thunder rolls
across the boiling heavens
ever growing louder
in its desire
to express anger
at her very presence

Rains come slashing down
on face and limb
in furious sheets
hoping to drive away
this human intruder

Still she stands firm
as she feels the strength
of the storm
filling her being,
blending herself
with the powers of nature

With arms raised
she shouts her response
into the winds of this storm
that assaults her senses

Over and over her anger
is projected
to blend
with the anger of nature
raging all about her

As suddenly as the coming
of the storm
a light of great beauty
breaks through the blackness
to cover her in its cleansing heat

Slowly the clouds depart
leaving peace
and serenity behind,
she smiles with the knowledge
that again she stood firm
against the storms
of her life and is renewed
