The Madness.

So long and bright the corridor, its walls of duck egg blue
And the endless polished floor, gleaming and so new,
Leads on to infinity past a million doors
Hiding each an inmate with a million mental sores.

In each cell behind each door each inmate cries for peace,
Waiting for White Gods to come with chemical release
The cries are oh so pitiful, so rending to the soul,
I seek my refuge from those moans in my padded hole.

My padded hole is full of bats, the stinking biting kind,
They scream and curse at all there is and leave me sitting blind.
Twittering flittering withering stinking bats, devils in my mind,
Please release my soul from here - to kill me would be kind.

I’ll bend these bars that hold me, there is strength in fear,
I”ll fly up there emboldened, so far away from here.
