Gosh what a wonderful poem Doug, you show a protective "Been there, done that" nature, hoping us carers, avoid the same hurt, but, to tread the easy path would indeed be a bore to me, I choose, to seek out those who see the light so far away, and embrace them, as I do the ones in the light like you, who have the purest heart, and I know, whilst banging my head on the wall, I will be thinking of your wise words, and maybe say "why, did I , not listen"

You are an exceptional poet, I love your work
