GODDESS OF PARADISE

She danced within the light of the rising sun,
along a faraway shore
at the edge of my greatest visions,
I shared with myself walking a city street.

One day I found the courage
to follow my vision to that same shore.
Walking a shadowless world just before dawn,
I realized she wasn't there and sadly I returned home,
walking the twisted streets, the fear-filled
security of strangers in unequal bondage...

On impulse, I gave money to a beggar I'd never met
and the sun touched my back as a gentle burning:
I turned in wonder
and there she was: the Goddess of golden shores,
as beautiful, as radiant as I'd seen her
in my visions of paradise.

She had been waiting, watching, hoping
some day I'd give her cause to reach for me:
a touch of unconditional love towards another.
She smiled as I touched her hand, we embraced ,
kissed as lovers do, and knew
we would create such a passion, such a flame,
that the hardest rain could not extinguish.

I knew she would go when the sun set,
but she reminded me of tomorrow,
of endless dazzling days in her havens of love,
where my visions of her, my love for all
would bring forth eternal bliss for those
who entered there with us, unafraid and free.
