Early in the morning, at the crack of dawn, I walk down the dimly lit aisles of my stable, Victory Leap Stables. Familiar horses nicker their faint welcomes, and I greet each one with a pat. The first stall I reach stalls my prized stallion, and favorite horse in the world, Victory Leap. He whinnys a welcome, and stomps a dappled foot against the ground. "Hey there big guy! Did you sleep well?" I scratch him right between the ars, and head off to the feed room. I pour each horses required amount of feed off the feeding chart into thir buckets, and then pour the feed into their stalls. As they munch greedily on their breakfast, I wheel the wheelbarrow up the aisles and toss each horse a flake of hay into their paddocks. I plop down onto Vic's teal tack trunk, and stroke his dappled neck while he eats. Horses poke their curious heads out of the stalls, and I head off to see them. The first stall I reach is the most famous offspring of Victory Leap, Leap To Victory. The stunning colt nudges me happily with his head, and it still suprises me how similar he is to his sire. "I'll see you later buddy!" I say, and head to the next stall. Inside I see What An Outrage, or Aggie as she is known around the barn. I wrap my arms around her, and kiss her silken muzzle. Besides Victory Leap, she had to be my favorite horse. She was a deep mahogany color, with coal black legs, a matching mane and tail, and a crisp white star on her forehead. The beautiful appendix mare danced excitdely in her stall, but I said good-bye and moved on. The next stall I reached was Victory Dream, an almost white filly out of Victory Leap and Lorie's mare Optical Illusion. She was very delicate looking, and she didn't have a speck of dirt on her. She was only a yearling, but already showed promise following in her brother's and sire's footsteps. I said good-bye to her, and approached the stall of the ornery little pony, Fancy Pants. Shes a Welsh/Paint pony with a lot of spunk. Her chestnut/white coat gleamed under the barn lights, but her eyes had a develish glare. Despite her supereb jumping abilities, she was always up to something outside of the ring! I dared not to pet her (I want my arm!) and poked my head into the next stall, housing the beautiful mare, Skye Angel. The dappled eventerwas dozing peacefully in the back of her stall, so I didn't wake her. The mother of Leap To Victory, sshe was of almost perfect conformation. Shes won tons of high-ranked events, placing high in the cross-country events. Nearing the end of the aisle, I approached the lonely stall of my buddy, Jake. He was a small Arabian/Quarter Horse gelding who I've had for a while. The old guy nudged me happily, hoping I would take him for a quiet hack on the trails "We'll go out today okay buddy? I'll bet you'd like that, huh?" I whisper softly to him. He was a little swayed-back, but he was perfect for our younger riders. I turned back around to the front of the barn, and made a last stop at Victory Leap. He poked his head over the partition, and lets out a shrill whinny, black nostrils flaring "Hey! Quit That!" I say, laughing. As I look at him, I remember all of the events we have won, and all the fun we've had competing. Then, I think of the future, and of all the events we'll enter in, all of the new foals he'll sire, and all of the fun we'll have! I stroke his neck softly and whisper into his black tipped ears "Your the greatest horse ever..." I give him a pat good-bye, and head off to get Jake tacked up for a hack.....
NOTE: If anyone ever wants to ride my horses, you're allowed to! WITH MY PRIOR PERMISSION!!!!!!!!!!!
