Subject: He looked up, his eyes meeting hers before dropping to the ground. Quiet shame was written all over his usually confident - if somewhat angsty - features as he attempted to meet her eyes yet again. One hand lifted to his arm, rubbing absently in an age old tell tale sign of his activities. He was a failure, couldn't even stay clean long but he wasn't in any danger of over dosing or anything like that. He was much more comfortable then he had been before. Hell, he was a professional user now, like that was something to brag about. He took a slow breath, biting his lower lip absently before he tipped his head to the side and tried to watch her.

  • She had known that he was back at it again the every moment she had seen him - though she had seen him looking far worse the first time, there was still just something so obvious about him now. Her head tipped back a little, watching him through his whole struggle to look at her, and then look back at her, and then she turned her gaze away finally to a nearby coffee table, and the book lying on top - right where she had left it. For a moment, she hesitated, and then she stepped over to pick up the novel and glanced down to it in her hands as she spoke with a helpless shrug. "I'd lose my head if it wasn't attached..." It was as if she was just making a casual comment to a stranger, and she nearly just stepped away and out the door to head back home... (NT) -- Maddy, Thu, Aug 18 2005, 9:58pm PDT
