Date Posted: 10:20:23 12/11/03 Thu Don't look now, but there's a rising in Class A basketball in Chicago. A "Phoenix" rising, as in the North Lawndale Phoenix, who are now 8-0 thanks to a 96-64 beatdown of St. Gregory on December 10 at Klasen Arena in the Chicago Prep Conference. Mark this early entry into the books for Class A all-area: Jimmy Williams. The senior guard dropped in 27 points - 16 in the first half - and had five steals as the Phoneix jumped out to an early 11-0 lead and never looked back. Williams also led five Phoenix in double figures, including Jason Pankey (12 points). North Lawndale is 2-0 in Chicago prep play. Another notable from last night's game was St. Gregory guard Nate Lewis. In a losing effort, the senior led the Greyhounds with 26 points, including five three-point shots. Backing him up was backcourt mate Frankie Echinique, who chipped in 17 points along with three assists. St. Gregory is 2-4 overall and 1-2 in conference play.
