He watched her watch the phone, and then pulled it back out of his pocket again, handing it back to her. "I don't know what I could say or do to fix this or make it alright, or explain to you exactly what I'm feeling right now, but I want you to have a way to get to me when you need me." He pressed the phone back into her hand. "If anything happens to you and you need someone, I want to know that you can reach me anytime you need to."
