Subject: About JAVA....
In reply to: YurSoakinginit 's message, "The JAVA Strikes Back...." on 12:13:21 09/01/03 Mon

(I've reposted this from our main page)

I'm not surprised that the members of JAVA would react this way. There's a lot of irony in their reactions.

First off, they take issue with people who vehemently dislike A&J visiting their message board. First of all, they invited such visits by going to boards like MediaDomain and advertising themselves (including some borderline religious rhetoric, but more on that later). I admit to viewing their board. We're organzing a counter-
effort on this bad pairing. Of course, I'd like to know what strategy they're using to paint these two as some sort of ''it'' couple. Hey, knowledge is power.

Ironically, people there have admitted to visiting here, too. But I have no problem with that. It's an open forum.

On the subject of an open forum, some of their contingency had pontificated over their having more members. Well, unlike JAVA, the BAJA site doesn't restrict anyone from posting - so there is not a necessity for ''membership'' in order to participate here. As well, they've been around for 3 months, and we've been up for less than three DAYS.

To give them some credit, I think most of them are pretty realistic about J&A being an unpopular pairing among the vast majority of OLTL fans. They've even admitted it in spite of their personal taste for the two. But there are a few who are a little delusional about their popularity, basing their feelings on the number of their registered
members and the results of their organized efforts toward magazines and polls. But anyone who visits any OLTL general board on the web will be swimming in a Jessica/Antonio climate that's more like LAVA than JAVA.

As YoureSoakingInIt, who posted below, knows, some of their
contingency has visited MediaDomain (I'm sure among other places) and spouted out borderline-religious rhetoric in association with JAVA, as I made mention of earlier. I'm sure not everyone there feels that way, but I don't think spreading a reputation of literal-worshipping of a couple does their cause any favor. It's actually what brought my
attention to their site, as I'm sure it has others. Obviously not the kind of attention they wanted....

Personally, I wish them well as individuals there. But I'd rather see Jessica and Antonio broken up... I also feel that Jessica's centering on Antonio is sucking the life out of her character. JAVA is kicking and scratching trying to make this couple look as if it were the answer to everyone's prayers. I know that isn't true, and that for
most viewers, J&A is the inspiration for our nightmares. They've organized their effort, we're organizing ours. And so far, I think most of them respect that.

Enjoying myself in BAJA,

Andy Harrisson
