I'd love to be able to say that I'm striving to fill those shoes but, to be more accurate, he left a huge hole in my life that keeping some of what he created alive feels like a band-aid that we all kinda need right now, me included. Even though it's actually comforting to see new issues of IMAGINE take shape, my empty inbox a few days before launch day STILL knocks the wind out of my sails and I don't think that will change anytime soon. Fact is, he loved it when others got involved and his gratitude made every single lost hour of sleep well worth it.

I was so lucky to have gotten to know one of the kindest souls that would ever pass through my life and my only saving grace right now is that I was able to express that to him on occasion with work like this. Unfortunately the saying is very true: "The flame that burns twice as bright burns half as long." so, I'm going to do whatever I can to preserve some of that "brightness" because he left an abundance of it behind for us all...
