If it turns out the character is based on someone you know then it can make you have more empathy towards them. Lets use our late great friend Comsie as an example. Aside from MOE which everyone KNOWS is pretty much auto biographical, if after reading another one of his stories and he then happened to mention at a later date it was drawn from experiences he had then I think yes it would change the perception of the characters slightly.
Autobiographies in their own right tend to do that. An example is I read a autobigraphy by Colton Haynes and although I knew stuff about him, to read more details changed some of how I felt.
