Hello everyone:

I hope and pray everyone is well after this experience. Most, if not all of us, have lost a lot, but we’re still here and that's more than enough to be thankful for. I'm checking in to say thank you to everyone who has reached out to me as well as everyone professionally and students from all of our universities and colleges. For those who have been through these hurricanes the rebuilding process is usually minor, however after the flooding that took place, the rebuilding will take a while.

I pray that everyone is safe and secure at wherever you decide to call home now. I do have some unfortunate news though. My job situation has changed. I have been reassigned from sports and into a position with fewer hours. I am currently looking at other options but most likely I will not return to New Orleans. Therefore, as soon as I settle on where I will be next, I will inform all of you of my whereabouts. It has been a privilege and an honor to have served you as president of the New Orleans Association of Black Journalists. And I will make sure that our chapter remains in good standing with the national office as this chapter moves forward.

For all of you New Orleans will always be home and for me it's no exception. I've spent all of my 36 years here and have enjoyed every minute of it. Our city will be back and stronger than ever. Let's do our part to make sure that happens.

While things are still in a flux right now, I will continue to lead this chapter until my situation is settled. And I know this is the last thing everyone is concerned about right now, but I feel it's important to let everyone know where things are. I would like to hear from everyone just to make sure everything is fine. Please feel free to call me at (504) 813-3164 or you can e-mail me at fredwillisstepp@yahoo.com or fwillis@timespicayune.com. Thanks to all who have helped me during my time as NOABJ president and to those who have become my friends. I will keep you posted take care and be blessed!

Freddie Willis Jr.
