I don't think e-books are going to crowd out real ones. Your Kindle freezes up, the battery dies, it becomes obsolete. You can't stick it so easily in a purse or a pocket. And it's a lit-up screen -- I can only stand looking at one of those for so long. Now a good old book, what's the worst thing that can happen with it? The pages can fall out, yes; that won't happen with an e-book. But as for spilling stuff on it, dropping it in the bathtub, losing it and having the dog chew it up, all that could happen with a Kindle, too. And it would be a lot more to replace one of those. You can't dog-ear the pages of a Kindle or underline in them. You can't press flowers in one, either. I think they're a fad.

My two cents.
