Stumbled onto this site for the first time - my heart pounds as I try to find words. From February, 1965 until December, 1998 I was blessed to sing as a waitress, as understudy to the late, great Betty Taylor as Slue Foot Sue, and as the lead, Lily Langtree, in the Jamboree at the Horseshoe, then as soloist w/several big bands and member of the Modernaires at Carnation Plaza and Small World stage. Just seeing the names of my precious life-long friends in print here is thrilling (Hi Mick!!). But, Jody? Oh, there will never be another Jody. We spent endless days and nights together throughout those years. When I married and had a family (I named my firstborn after her), we continued to stay very close, no matter where in the world her talent took her. 1993 she opened for us (the Modernaires) several weeks on the road. After almost 40 years, there we were together again ~ on stage ~ amazng! When cancer took her, my life became immeasurably poorer. We are all poorer without her. I'm blessed to have the opportunity to hear from others that loved her and each other.
