] Date Posted: Mon, Jan 30 2006, 16:00:31 My husband and I went to Oriental Travels. Guess we were attracted by the free gifts despite being warned not to go by many of our friends and relatives. My sisters had been conned by Leisure Group and Pro-Biz at Ngee Ann City (they have not been able to get back their money). So my hubby and I (two foolish people) went for the talk at Oriental Travels. We told the consultant that we were not going to buy any timeshare stuff but they kept saying they are not timeshare. Paid a deposit and now want to back out from the contract after reading this forum. Hope we can get back our deposit. In fact we have called CASE who advised us on the procedures to take to prevent them from defaulting on the refund. CASE also said that 90 days to repay the refund is a really long time-- no company will give that kind of credit terms to another (the longest being 60 days) so we were advised to negotiate on the time frame for them to pay us back. We were told to remember to commit everything they have to say in writing with a company stamp. If they do not refund us, we are definitely going to CASE. it seems there was an article in the Sunday Times written about Oriental Travels. I guess we missed the article. I really wonder why these companies are allowed to operate in Singapore. [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |

Date Posted: Tue, Jan 31 2006, 13:55:46 They are operating in the grey areas of the law. That is why they still here today. They are neither ethically legal or illegal. The best part is, they even dope their own employees. More could be done to make it more difficult for such companies to function. For example : The cooling off period should be extended to 14 days. Create public awareness and education about such companies of their ill practices. [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |
