Dear George,
I was persuaded to buy the LGM package yesterday and I failed
into the trap (2005-07-31). I have signed the contract with a total of
S$19500, including a S$6000 for deposit (by credit card) and a s$13500
by monthly charge.
I was told the contract can be withdraw within 4 days, and I
get a additional description that the S$6000 could be cancelled by
them. but I am not very sure whether this cancel is conditional or
not, whether we can get back the money. I have call the OCBC bank to
cancel the credit transfer, but I was told that only LGM have the
right to cancel it. So, I need to negotiate with LGM to get their
admission to cancel my contract and withdraw my money within four
days. Do you think they will obey their promise to refund my money?
I think I need an additional agreement between us about the
cancellation and their admission to cancel the transfer. I need these
two documents. I think it is not a easy thing.
It will be very appreciated if you can give me some advice.

did u receive the notice of cancellation?
did LGM explain about the 3 day cooling off period?
is part A of the notice of cancellation filled up?

if so, then pls quickly send in the notice of cancellation to LGM within 3 working days
do keep a copy as evidence
LGM has to refund all monies paid, and terminate the timeshare automatically

what if i've never received/shown the notice of cancellation? can i cancel the contract (signed after march 2004) and get money back after some time, say, 1 year later? coz i just read this forum today and realised the whole thing is scam.

You do not have 4 days to cancel. You are only allowed 3 days to cancel it (as stated in the Consumer Fair Trading Act), to be protected under that law. If they specifically told you that you are given 4 days, then on the 4th day, the company is no longer bounded by law to allow you to cancel. They could go back on their words. Go to CASE for help and also go to LGM to demand a cancellation of contract. DO IT QUICKLY!

Thanks everybody.
During these days, I have learned a lot about Singapore law and know why I was sucked in this trap. I believe I can be a successful timeshare salesman now, but I will not do that business.
According to the Singapore fair trade act, there is 3 days cooling off time. It is better to inform them within three days. Another remind, sign the cancellation notice with the same peoples that had signed the contract, if you and your husband signed the contract together, it is better to signed the same way on cancellation notice.
I have asked help in the second day from CASE, and send registered mail to inform the company. After that, the time share company called me, asked me to go to their company to discuss. I have agreed their reqest.
I know my rights; I have the rights to keep silence, because now the CASE is my agent. I have right to refused any question that I don't like. I have the right to cancel the contract without giving them any reasons. If I am not comfortable or not satisfied with their attitude or answer, I have the right to stop the talk.
From now on, I will rely only on CASE or lawyer. my only aim is to cancel the contract and get back my money. If they don't satisfy me after the mediation by CASE, I will transfer it to lawyer; I have already collected all the evidence, even I have the voice record during the whole procedure, it showed how they tell le about their product and how they explained their clauses. I know who will be the loser. I am very interested in playing the game with this company.

Hi Emily..

Could you share with the rest of us here how your case going on? Has the problem been settle? Any refund? I already complained to CASE awaiting reply. But they did warn me that the reply will be unfavourabe though.
