Surreal Shadows- wild horse rpg
It was the beginning of time, thousands of years ago. Dinosaurs roamed the earth, volcanoes erupted, a disaster near. There were little mammals with three toes. They had a long nose, open nostrils, wide eyes, pricked ears, and a flight instinct. These were the first Equines. They ate vegetation along the forest grounds, kept watch for predators, and stuck together in herds. There were many different colors; bay, palomino, chestnut, black, roan... etc. The diversity did not tear these groups apart. Nor did personality. They depended on eachother's alertness for survival. Lots of animals were out to get them because of their small size. They were an easy meal.

Finally a big meteor was headed towards earth. The equines sensed the approaching danger and found themselves caves. The caves would serve to be their only savior. As the meteor struck, dust covered the land and volcanoes erupted as earthquakes sprung in every direction. The shaking ground caused a collapse of rocks to form in front of a particular group's cave entrance. All hope was lost as there was no food around. Many starved as other's explored the cave. They found water, a stream that widened as they moved further in. Following this stream for days, the equines were now down to a very small number. But they kept going, determined to find safety.

At last they heard a rumbling noise. They all hurried to where it was coming from. It was a waterfall. A beautiful waterfall of death. It was too high to jump from and yet it was their only hope. The equines jumped. Despite realistic happenings, every single one of them survived the fall. They reached land, shook water from their pelt, and looked around in gasping fits and widened eyes of disbelief. The area they had found was full of lush grass, forest areas, and sparkling H2O. They had found heaven. The only surreal part seemed to be the neverending shadows. Even in the brightest times there seemed to be shadows everywhere.

The equines ignored the abnormality and gobbled their fill, beginning a new life. Reproduction brought around many others. Finally, a stallion created a herd. Then another. Then another. This all grew to an enormous size. The food never seemed to run out, and the endless space available was just perfect. This cave was turning out to be some sort of magical place. The equines had no idea though since they ran on pure instincts, not yet becoming the intelligent mammals of today.

Many generations went by. The animals grew larger and the toes grew together. At last they had reached the peak of evolution. It was the 21st century and everything was normal. Intelligence had grown extremely fast. Lots of equines become geniuses. Herds were formed into organized communities and personalities formed. The animals were identified with names and breeds. Even the general overview seemed to seperate. Darks were different from neutrals who were different from lights who were different from all. But the herds stayed diverse, allowing all sorts of combinations to arrise. At last life settled down to peace. But not all was calm. There were raids, battles, steals, and arguments. No matter what rose from this wonderful place, it was still paradise. Do you dare join and share this admirable land?
