That's really interesting. I think my position would be: Everyone expresses patriotism in a different way, and what someone SAYS may or may not accurately demostrate how patriotic they are.

The people who did the bombing waited a long time to finish a job begun in 1993. How long will it be before the next time they strike? For me, patriotism is more about how a citizen reacts to the continuing threat to their country, not how much flag waving they do and how many platitudes they utter about how horrible the bombing was. (I use the word platitude because of how rote the new national greeting, "Our hearts go out to..." has become.)

You know what really bothers me? The "God Bless America" signs and shirts everywhere. The even more in-your-face Christianity being exhibited in this country makes me uncomfortable.
