Subject: Autonomy Task

Reflect about your own autonomy and write a text telling us if you consider yourself an autonomous person. Include some quotations from the text you read. How would you classify your degree of autonomy?

I will talk about autonomy in my learning in general, not in language. Learning. I´d say that here in college I´m a very autonomous learner, specially now that I started getting involved with my monography. I´m pretty much responsible for most of the learning that goes on. It´s like Sandy said: “Lecturers only give a brief talk on the topics, leave a huge area for students to explore for themselves”. I wouldn´t say I´m 100% autonomous, after all, I am in an institution and am limited by the options that it gives me. I feel that as we get older, or at least as I got older, the tendency is to become more and more autonomous and college contributes to that significantly. Since I should probably describe my autonomy in terms of numbers, I´d say that in my general learning I´m 75% autonomous. I realize I could be much more autonomous… There´s something else to strive for next semester.
