The following letters are from the Delphi message board. I think they are being mislead. What do you think? Shotwell

We are still in the process of geting our International contract worked out and ther is some speculation on 25 and out and 27 and out. We got a letter that made some of us believe that coming next year there will be alot of things done to get some of the traditionals with close to 30 years and the ones that already exceed that that will not retire to get them to do so. For me I still got another 14 years to go. We have lost alot of our bissiness here and it looks that do have the business to give us but they won't give to us untill they get the traditionals out to the point where there will be just a few of us to make the place worthwhile to keep open. I work at the Kettering Plant in Kettering Ohio......Bernie

Are they going to offer any early outs, say 25 years? Or do you have to have 30 years or the combined years of service and age to equal enough points to retire ( I can't remember if it's 80 or 85 points to retire). At our plant we had a meeting with the plant manager to REMIND US that we can still flow back to GM and get money to do so. In Tuscaloosa, the plant they are closing, they are offering them 3 times what they are offering us to relocate. They are chomping at the bit to get those 2 tier workers in place. We are looking at some layoffs at the first of the year. Some have been on voluntary layoff for close to a year. That would suit me fine. Oh, by the way, I work at the Athen's Alabama plant. Were in the AHG, and nobody's saying if or when were coming out. We just got some half shaft business, but are losing a lot of rack and pinion business at the first of the year. I fiqure were looking at around 500 or so layoff's at the first of the year, but don't hold me to that number. They might close the doors next week. Who knows. And if they do, know, they ain't talking.

Accordint to union officials there will be an incentive package presented to all available employees as to get them to retire as they did back in 96 or 97 where some of the people did take the buy out. This will be done next year.
