Subject: retirement incentives

I don't think Delphi will offer incentives because they do not want to increase pension obligations when they are already underfunded. They want to encourage people to flow back to GM so they can avoid pension obligations. Offering early outs would not encourage people to flow back. They don't need to offer incentives because they can scare people away with two tier and other threats. If no one decided to flow back, if union members decided to stay and fight, Delphi would be in a different position, but as it stands, Delphi has little reason to offer incentives. The Flint Journal reported that the Metal Fab plant is closing. Despite all the concessions they made on work rules and classifications the stamping plant will be closed. Those employees will have first pick of GM jobs. But what is most alarming is that the Flint Metal Fab was not on the list of plants reported to be closed. Just more undisclosed news from an unfinished contract. stay solid, shotwell
