So a good parent tortures his child, then?

A good parent, in seeing his child err, tortures the child so the child learns not to do it again, according to your answer. However, the person in hell NEVER gets out. What's the purpose in "teaching" the damned any lesson when they'll never be able to apply it? God must derive pleasure from the torture, otherwise there is no reason for it.
