My previous threads recognized these "accessory dwelling units" as such. I appreciate your response, however, you are running for a public office on a platform of transparency and open communication. Demonstrate it via this forum. Subsidies are an offset either directly or indirectly. Declare and explain publicly that the "owners" of these proposed micro housing units are not to be recipients of any other cost of living living subsidies, be it food, healthcare, childcare, education, etc.. Declare and explain publicly that the developers of these proposed micro housing units are not to be recipients of any sort of financial "insentives" i.e. sales tax exemptions, grants, etc. via any level of government. Declare and explain how the costs to develop these proposed micro housing units -And - the increase costs relative to the ongoing demand thereafter on municipal services will net out to be a wash, if not a loss, at just $60,000 cost per unit. Declare and explain publicly that the development of these proposed micro housing units will not increase the population of the city and therefore not increase the demand of municipal services and by extension will not be inflationary on the aggregate. Facts are...credit card useage is at an all time high...credit card defaults are rising. Auto loan charges at at an all time high...auto loan defaults are rising. Ditto for student loans and healthcare billings. Remember rent and utility charge moratoriums and forebearances? If the majority of the population is already finding it challenging, if not impossible, to afford these expenses, declare publicly and explain how in the future these same people, relatively, will afford a median house payment five times what you suggest will be the micro unit cost. As per building equity, you're omitting to factor in the erosion of equity via compounding inflation and taxes into the equation. The only way I see equity being built on a $60K micro housing unit is if it is paid for in cash and it continues to appreciate at a rate exceeding that of inflation. With 'real' inflation running in the double digits, how much and how long long will it take to build meaningful equity? Fact is, developing micro housing units is, in practice, a lowering of the bar and is the relative equivalent of what is acknowledged to be "affordable" housing or "workforce" housing. Their 'real' social and economic costs are spread over the aggregate population. NYS is bleeding people and as such is attempting to stop the bleed by increasing housing density and lowering housing standards under the guise of "affordibility". It's a top-down iniative paid for via deficit spending for which the taxpayer, again in the aggregate, is on the hook. "Micro-housing" in Newburgh is an extension of that program. Again, I'll ask...what part of deficit spending is not understand?
