Since you are in a discussion here, are you aware of the limited scope of what your powers as a mayor/city councilperson would be? You can talk about what you will do in the position all you want but the reality is that what you have the opportunity to change is close to nil. Not one city council person nor the mayor are challenging anything about an overpaid city manager who still- against the charter- does not live here- and whom they recently approved an outrageous raise for. I highly respect anyone willing to make the effort to run but to do it naively helps no one, including yourself. I understand that to attract votes in this city you have to say things that aren't true. You may have to promise things you will have absolutely no power to make a decision on. But in that realm, if you are going to believe that issues get you elected here over things like "knowing" the candidate, you are going to be highly disappointed. Most of the newcomers here have multiple dwellings and are not permanent or voting residents. We are in a speculative market mostly made up of investors. They have no interest in who's running the city. The majority of voters, few as they may be, are not voting on issues but personalities and who knows who. Good luck. Thanks for the effort.
