Subject: Surprise! Washington Street CLOSED

Ran into another business owner this morning who told me that the city was shutting down Washington Street tomorrow Thursday- possibly until the end of the year. Nothing on the city's website, no public notice, no notification to our business. Called city hall, took all day until someone got back to me. They said, yes, it would be closing tomorrow east of Grand Street. Not only was no one on our street notified but this will be affecting us for the holiday season. Why even pay people in city hall if they can't even put out a simple notice to businesses and residents about long term street closures? I have been here over 30 years and even with questionable people in charge, we've always been notified of such things AND they've been posted to the website. As for the website there is no information about ANYTHING. You can't even email anyone in City Hall through the site. The worst communication/information I've ever experienced here. Where are our elected officials? Pitiful!
