Subject: Mayor Harvey’s Loan Forgiveness

When you next see Mayor Harvey, be sure to congratulate him on his $120,000 in educational loans that he had forgiven. Of course there is no such thing as a free lunch, so the debt didn’t go away, it was simply transferred to the rest of the taxpayers to pay off. The mayor makes well over $100,000 per year as a teacher, and another $15,000 per year as a mayor and not only could have, but should have paid off his own loans. However, his loans will now be paid off by those who have never incurred educational debt, or had the debt and paid it off as we had agreed to do so when we incurred the loans. So when each of us congratulates him on his loan forgiveness, I’m sure he will lavish us with thanks for working to pay off his loans.
