Honestly, I'm not holding out hope for change in Newburgh from an outside source.

AG James
Barring any major local scandals boiling up to the state level then her office won't even begin to look at Newburgh. She will not investigate a Democratic-majority city, it doesn't bode well for her future political career.

Executive Neuhaus
As much as Neuhaus has reservations on how Newburgh is currently being operated, he's not going to step in. He has to think about his political future and how would it look for a Republican executive to investigate a Democratic city.

Assemblymen Jacobson
Don't hold your breath on this one, he's a part of the problem. He's been driving the Democrats for Newburgh and Orange County for years now and he's not giving up any power. He has his own problematic past that needs to brought to light.

The biggest problem with this city is the Democrats (this is coming from a former Democrat and now Independent), they are so dead-set on maintaining Democratic control over the city at all costs even if it means supporting problematic candidates. In this last election, the party was not particularly excited about supporting Shakur but they didn't want to lose his seat. The problem lies with Jacobson, Jules Ridgeway (head of the city Democratic party) and Zak Constantine (head of the Orange County Democratic party). How do you have a 20-something in charge of the county party especially when they were convicted of stealing an opponents yard signs.

Much like the national-level, we have to move past this two-party system. The citizens of Newburgh need to rise and fight city hall. We, the citizens of this city, have to hold them accountable because no one from the outside will.
