Kudos to Councilpersons Martinez, Monteverde, Sklarz, and Sophocles for stopping this unconscionable money grab. Shame on the greedy mayor and Councilmen McLymore and Shakur who got caught with their hands in the cookie jar. The three of them should recognize that they are officials elected to perform a public service. They are compensated for this with a stipend as well as health insurance and retirement benefits. If any of them are in need of more money they should resign their positions and apply for a job at any of the warehouses in the area. If accepted, they would soon find out what real work is.
