Given the city newburgh's stance as a welcoming city, the federal government will still treat it as a sanctuary city. Any federal funding will potentially be in jeopardy, and raids no doubt will happen, given Newburgh was among some of the first areas to receive NYC illegal immigrant overflow. I agree that the council, both city, and town need to focus on the school district in which they both share. It isn't just a city of Newburgh problem, it's a town of Newburgh, and Town of New Windsor issue as well. Hope these communities stand up, and fight for their children, and leave the federal government to do it's business. Can't do anything about illegal immigrants, but you can damn sure do something about the NECSD.
