Subject: Mayor Harvey

I witnessed something watching Thursday night’s Council Workshop that I have never seen before in all of my years of watching the workshop meetings. Close to four hours into the meeting, the mayor made a motion to adjourn the meeting before the council had addressed all of the agenda items. Fortunately, the motion was defeated and the council resumed business. After his motion was defeated, he blamed Mr. Morris for putting too many items on the agenda.

Helllllloooooo Mayor Harvey! The workshop needs to cover all of the business that the Council will address at the next City Council meeting, as well as all of the old and new business items that the council members have requested for the next workshop meeting.

Councilwoman Stewart and Councilman Zorilla are asking excellent questions which take time to discuss. Mayor Harvey, when he asks a question, just shows that he did not listen to the presenter, otherwise he would have known the answer. He continues to waste time at meetings rehashing things from when he first joined the council. If you listen to the comments that he made at this workshop you will see how much time he added to the meeting for no useful purpose.

I don’t always agree with Councilwoman Martinez, but her put down of the mayor after his failed motion is a classic which should be played at the beginning of each meeting. The mayor is clearly tired, and if he is not up to the task of putting in the time necessary to do the city’s business, he should consider resigning.
