I would assume that it is Grandpa and Grandma's room on the other side, of course when you go into their room from the other way via the landing there is no door to go into the living room, if I recall correctly. I often wondered why they didnt use it, if it was a real door when they retired for the night it would of seemed easier to go to bed through that door, rather than climbing stairs.
