Michael Learned who played Olivia Walton is alive and still acting. She decided to leave the Waltons show to move on with her new show called "The Nurse" so they decided to write her story that she has a TB. Michael Learned did come back in the beginning of episode one Season 8 called "The Home Front" and left again in episode 9 "The Waiting". In Season 9 "The Move" is about John went visiting for the weekend in Washington D.C because Olivia was working for Red Cross and she had a relapsed and he came home to inform the family that Olivia has had a relapse. He had to take her to Arizona for her recovery. She also made appearance in TV Movie reunion (Mother's Day on Waltons Mountain 1982, A Walton Thanksgiving Reunion 1993, A Walton Wedding 1995 & A Walton Easter 1997. I hope this will help you.
