I was 18 years old and at a weekend retreat with my church. I had gone with 5 other girls and my goal was to learn more about the church, their goal was to meet new boys! On Saturday night there was a dance and while we were all asked to dance several times; none of the boys that asked us had spoken another word to us. The music was horrible and we had all just agreed that we were not going to accept any more invitations to dance when I turned around and there was Michael asking me to dance. I agreed to dance and lo and behold he started talking to me. The standard questions were asked and answered and when the music stopped instead of walking off he escorted me to a chair and we talked and talked. When the dance was over we helped clean up and then he walked me back to the dorm and got my phone # and set a time when he would call me.

I had never had a boyfried. I had never been in love. I was not a boy chaser. I was a tomboy (still am) and I had never thought that I would get married. I went home and told my mother I had met the man I was going to marry and I did!

It's been 34 years since the dance and we've been married 33 years and we have six gorgeous children (1 girl and 5 boys) and so far we have 11 grandchildren and yes I do believe in love at first sight!
