Back in '59 and '60 I was in Wharton County Jr. College. Of course a few of us had put together a garage band but on weekends that we weren't gigging, we would go hear other bands. One Saturday night we were at Hilgie Hall listening and dancing to Roy Head and The Traits. Then this young kid walked in with a shirt on that had The Triumphs on the back. He would just stand up by the stage and watch the Band. I asked one of our party who he was and someone said. "Oh that's B.J.Thomas. He's from Richmond Rosenberg and has a little garage band. He comes to Roy's gigs and waits for him to ask him on stage to sing." Ahhhhh, little did we know then that he was destined for stardom. And now you know the rest of the story.
