Subject: Take a Chevy Surburban for a Test Drive!

The door hinges and door structure at the hinge attachment points are HORRIBLY inadequate for something considered to be a 'truck'. To prove it to you, go to dealer, take one for a test drive. But, in advance, find the steepest LEGAL road you can near the dealer, (like 20 degrees or more). During the test drive, go to that road to get headed down it and then pull over on it and open the door, give it normal push too. By gravity, that HUGE heavy door will then accelerate as it swings open. But then it reaches the hinge stops and the paper thin weenie door metal at the hinges will NOT be able to stop the rest of that door without YIELDING. Thus, you will very likely have just damaged their shiny new Suburban merely by opening the door! Do it hard enough or enough times and the gap between the front edge of the door and rear edge of the 1/4 panel will shrink as the hinges flex the door metal further and further inward. Keep opening that door to the stops enough times on grade, (down or sideways doesn't much matter), and the metal will fatigue and crack as it has already done on my friend's 2007 who delivers 400 newspapers per day. It's cracked around each hinge so much that the door is about to FALL OFF! If they can't get the damn door design right then is there much question that the rest of the vehicle design is probably also JUNK?. Mike, BSME
