I can say nice things about my Wintergreen hard shell jacket. They are not cheap, but are excellent protection. Wintergreen will put a removable fur ruff in the hood if you pay extra.

As for boots you see mushers and the like using the cream of the crop here are probably still Steger Mukluks. I've a set of the ARctics and they're warm and comfortable. I'll be using them in the Beartooths next February.
