Have you ever noticed that in a dark, villainous role Robert's eyes are really dark and mysterious, like as Bill Walker or Bill Sykes. But in a sweet romantical role such as Jem Trehearne or Ted Wilson his eyes are soft and sweet.
Now that's a good actor! Well, actually, to me, his eyes are gorgeous in all of his roles. But, have you ever noticed that? Watch 'Kiss The Blood Off My Hands' or 'Oliver Twist' then watch 'Jamaica Inn' or 'The Beachcomber' and you WILL see a difference.

That was one of his endearing qualities. He had the ability to change his face for any type of role. But his eyes were very expressive and even in his meanest roles something kind always seemed to show through, didn't it? The eyes have to have it!! I like expressive eyes too. Makes the person.
BTW You get to see his legs in 'The Beachcomber', if you haven't seen it already. He wears shorts in some scenes.

I agree - the man had remarkable eyes. Beautiful. Some people regard them as the window to the soul....
His possessed both an intensity and a gentility, a marvelous asset for a character actor.

Oh yea! I saw him in The Beachcomber, I think right now that's my favorite of his movies.
And when he rolled up his pantlegs in S3, but it was only up to his knees.
Yup, he had some nice legs.
If you go on my myspace page (myspace.com/sawgrass) I have alot of photos of him in my photos and I make a huge fuss over his eyes. They are beautiful!
