Except I don't think a real pirate would have said "darn"! ;-) (In fact, instead of the relatively "harmless" four-letter words in common use today, they got pretty creative with their swearing, going out on a real limb, IMO, by using religious oaths instead. One of the ones I remember from "Treasure Island" that sounds pretty authentic is when George Merry said, "Devil burn me!" And one of the real Blackbeard's recorded quotes was "Damnation seize my soul." They really liked to live--or rather die--dangerously!)
