Elizabeth, As far as we know he didn't paint. If he did, I guess it was never made public. He did paint scenery in his early days on the stage, though.

I bet being raised by an artistic father he was probably pretty good. I saw a painting done by his father that was really nice.

His father painted beautifully (they're so serene). Fyi..One of his paintings is on the Queen Mary.

I've been on the Queen Mary before! but I was very young. I didn't know that, which one? Is it like in the dinning room or some place like that?

It's in the Long Gallery. See the description below:

'An effective painting, "Sussex Landscape", by Mr. Bertram Nicholls, is a prominent feature at the forward end of he gallery, while at the after end there is a painting by Mr. Algernon Newton, A.R.A., entitled "Evening on the Avon."'

And here is the link:

Go down to the photo that has the caption:

'Looking aft at the entrances to the ballroom and the foyer'

You will see it at the end of the gallery.

Do you remember seeing it, Elizabeth?

I love it, it's so pretty.
No, I was only about 3 or 4, I don't remember any of it. But, I wish I did.

That's really cool to see the original photo, and it's been in the same place for so long.
